Tickets & Activities FAQs

What is Field Station: Dinosaurs?
The Field Station is an outdoor exhibition with 32 life-size animatronic dinosaurs. We are a walking park with games, workshops and entertainment along the way. Guests will be given a trail map with a schedule of daily activities to plan their self-guided expedition.

What are the operating hours?

*The park is open rain or shine, however, in the event of lightning storms, for the safety of our guests and staff, the park may close and notices will be posted on the website and on social media. Please call 855.999.9010 to check the status.

What are the ticket prices?
Ticket prices range from $18 to $60. Tickets may be purchased online or at the box office. Tickets are valid any day during the current season and regular business hours.

Are there refunds for bad weather?
Field Station: Dinosaurs remains open even if it rains, so refunds are not available. However, visitors who brave the weather will be given a complimentary poncho inside the park. *In the event of lightning storms, for the safety of our guests and staff, the park may close and passes may be given to return another day during the current season and regular business hours.

What is Field Station: Dinosaurs’ park address?
Overpeck County Park: Henry Hoebel Area, 3 Overpeck Park Driveway, Leonia, NJ 07605. For directions, you may also enter FIELD STATION DINOSAURS into your favorite GPS. For detailed directions, click here.
Note: We are NOT in the new section of Overpeck County Park. We are on the same side as the dog park and 911 Memorial.

Is smoking permitted at Field Station: Dinosaurs?
No, Field Station: Dinosaurs is a smoke-free park. This includes the use of e-cigarettes and vaping, which are also prohibited inside the park. There is a designated smoking area in the parking lot.

Is the park wheelchair and stroller accessible?
Yes. Follow the marked trails for our ADA accessible paths.

Are wheelchairs available for rent?
Yes. Wheelchairs are available for rent for $10 by visiting the box office. A valid ID must be left at the box office at time of rental.

Are strollers available for rent?
Yes. Hiking strollers are available for rent for $5 by visiting the box office. A valid ID must be left at the box office at time of rental.

Is parking available?
Yes, we offer free parking on-site. Handicap parking is also available.

Is there food available?
Yes. Hamburgers, hot dogs, ice cream, snacks, beverages and more are available for purchase at Dino Bites, the Field Station concession stand located at The Canteen. Hours: 10am – 5pm during the summer and 11am – 4pm during the fall.

Does The Canteen accept debit/credit cards?
Yes, we accept all major credit cards and apple Pay.

Can I bring in my own food?
Yes, you may bring food into the park. We do not have storage for coolers and bags. Large coolers are not permitted. Food deliveries are not permitted.

Is there free wifi available?
Not at this time.

Is there a charging station for phones?
Not at this time.

Is there a gift shop available?
Yes, our Tricera-Shops is located at the exit of the park and is the only place where authentic Field Station: Dinosaurs merchandise is available.

 How long does it take to visit the park?
Your admission tickets are valid for the entire day. To get the most out of your Day Pass, guests should plan on spending at least three hours to take in all of the live shows, games and activities and to see all of the dinosaurs.

What happens if it rains?
Field Station: Dinosaurs remains open even if it rains; however, in the event of lightning storms, for the safety of our guests and staff, the park may close and notices will be posted on the website and on social media. Please call 855.999.9010 to check the status. Visitors who brave the weather will be given a complimentary poncho in the park.

Is there an ATM available?
There is no ATM available at the park.

Are there drinking fountains?
No, but water is available for sale at Dino Bites located at The Canteen in the center of the park.

What happens if I lose something at Field Station: Dinosaurs?
All lost and found items will be brought to the Box Office. If you have already left the Field Station, please email us to check if an item was found.

Is there a dress code for Field Station: Dinosaurs?
Shirts and shoes are required. We recommend comfortable shoes, such as sneakers, for our paths. A hat is a good idea for sunny days. We also recommend bug spray and sunscreen for hot summer days.

Do you offer season passes?
We do! You can purchase them online HERE, however, they are only available until mid-August each year. Be sure to visit our website periodically or follow us on social media for updates on when season passes will be available. All season passes are $60 per person. Guests age 2 and above require an admission ticket or season pass.

Is there a discount for group tickets?
Yes, please email groups@fieldstationdinosaurs.com or call 973.748.4317 for more information. A group consists of 20 or more tickets. Click here for more info.

Does Field Station: Dinosaurs sell gift certificates?
Yes. They are only available online.

What forms of payment are accepted at Field Station: Dinosaurs?
We accept cash and all major forms of credit. We do not accept personal checks.

Do you allow dogs at Field Station: Dinosaurs?
Pets are not permitted in the park, with the exception of registered service animals.

Do you sell sunscreen at the park?
Yes, at Tricera-Shops.

Do you host large groups, special events and parties?

What items are visitors allowed to bring into the park?
Feel free to bring in paper/infant bags, strollers, wheelchairs/mobility scooters and service dogs/animals (no other animals allowed).

Are bicycles, scooters and skateboards allowed?
No, however wheelchairs, mobility scooters and strollers are permitted.

Can I leave the park and re-enter?
Yes, a quick trip to your vehicle is fine but you may not re-enter after leaving the property. Get your hand stamped at the front gate before exiting the park.

Park FAQs

What are the Live Shows that are included in the Day Pass?
Our full schedule of live shows, games, and activities are included in the Day Pass. Guests will be given a schedule upon entering the park. Optional activities are the Paleontologists’ Laboratory and the Jurassic Jump.

How long are the Live Shows?
Our shows are between 15 and 20 minutes long.

Where are the Live Shows located in the park?
Guests will be given a trail map with a schedule of daily activities to plan their self-guided expedition.

Is there re-entry? Can I come and go?
Yes, a quick trip to your vehicle is fine but you may not re-enter after leaving the property. Get your hand stamped at the front gate before leaving the property. 

 

 

Is there a bulk ticket discount?
We do not have a bulk ticket purchase program at this time, though groups are welcome! Visit our Groups page for more information.

What is the Paleontologists’ Laboratory?
Junior Bone hunters and emerging young paleontologists dig for actual fossils from the age of the dinosaurs and take home their own Mesozoic discovery in a souvenir pouch. Guests age 2 and above are permitted in the Laboratory and one non-paying adult may enter without purchasing a ticket. Strollers are not permitted in the Laboratory

What is happening with the permanent comfort stations at  Field Station: Dinosaurs?
In 2019, the Bergen County Board of Commissioners approved the addition of new accessible public comfort stations for our location in Overpeck Park. The project, managed by the Department of Parks, has met with a number of delays and postponements which are out of our control. In the meantime, we provide festival style restrooms for guests and the general public outside our gates and a restroom trailer with private stalls, flush toilets and running water inside the Field Station.  These restrooms are cleaned continuously throughout the day. Additional permanent restrooms are available at the end of our overflow parking lot by the tennis courts.

 

Birthday Party FAQs

The Fossil  additional what is the maximum amount of people I can have at a party?
A maximum of 40 guests is permitted in the birthday tent.

Can we bring party decorations into the park?
The birthday tent is lightly decorated but we welcome additional decorations that can be set up and taken down in 15 minutes or less.

Can I bring my own cake?
Yes, but only with the Fossil Fete package. All parties include cupcakes in the package. You must provide your own cake plates, candles, and a knife to cut the cake. Cake deliveries are not permitted. There is no storage for any leftovers so they must be brought to your car following your party.

Can I bring my own food?
Pizza is included in the Fossil Fete package and guests are permitted to bring additional food, snacks and beverages. You may add-on pizza to your package for $18.00 per pizza. The Fossil Fete package includes water for adults and juice boxes for children. The Cretaceous Celebration package does not include food or beverages and outside food is not permitted.

Some of my party guests have severe allergies, may I bring my own cake/food?
Only under the most extreme cases can this be considered. Arrangements must be made in advance on a case-by-case basis in advance of your party by calling the Administrative Office at 855.999.9010.

 

Can we bring coolers into the party?
Guests with the Fossil Fete package may bring small coolers to the birthday tent. All coolers and personal items must be brought to your car immediately following your party.

What is the party favor?
The party favor is one dinosaur plush toy per child. You are welcome to bring additional favor items for your guests.

Does Field Station: Dinosaurs provide paper plates, napkins and cutlery?
We provide plates and napkins for the cupcakes, and pizza if purchased as on add-on. You are welcome to bring your own fun-themed plates, napkins and utensils.

If I do not purchase a party package but only purchase admission tickets, may I bring in my own cake?
No. Without a birthday reservation through Field Station: Dinosaurs we do not permit cakes, decorations and other party items to be brought into the park.
